In my communications class we've been talking a lot about male dominance in movies and how we're bred to believe that men should be the pursuers because when women do it they seem aggressive, pushy, or downright "witchy." Is it true? While mostly I've been pursued, I'm usually the one who's aggressive to "seal the deal" so to speak and make it happen. The guys are like, "I like you, let's be together" but somehow the title of "girlfriend" always eludes me, so I push for it, and then they see me as aggressive and a demanding girlfriend and I'm like, "AHA so I AM your girlfriend!" but it never works out long b/c I always get sick of them (if I even liked them in the first place) because when I fall, I fall hard and all the way. I don't want to beat around the bush, you know? So how is a girl like me supposed to get a guy who has an interest in her to just go that extra mile without being forward? I don't feel like I should have to sit around twiddling my thumbs and batting my eyelashes until they finally decide to pluck up the courage and ask me out without hooking up with me, you know? And if he doesn't, I'll know he's just not that into me. But I'll still want him to have asked me out because I finally started liking HIM!
Anyway...thoughts?
